Sooo colour blocking, huh? I was a bit sceptical at first but I couldn't resist the thought of mixing coral and fushia. You know me: I wear a lot of black so dressing monochromatic or wearing only colours is a bit of a challenge... but I'm getting there.

How To Detox Your Wardrobe?

Several of you have asked me about how I proceed to detox my wardrobe. First of all, you should know that I followed Mademoiselle Robot's tips and it worked wonders.

I try to detox my wardrobe once a month. We have four very distinct seasons here in Norway so I have to make efficient use of my closet. I shifted from my fall/winter wardrobe to my spring/summer wardrobe in April and it felt sooo good. I put all of my winter tights, woollen socks, gloves & scarfs in a big box while my cardigans and sweaters have their own drawer. 

Now here's how I proceed to declutter my wardrobe. Keep in mind: those are clothes, they can be replaced, don't be too sentimental. (Call me the Wardrobe Nazi if you want.) 

• Put on some good music. (I do recommend Telephone by Lady Gaga.) 

• Empty your wardrobe, put everything on your bed. 

• Clean your wardrobe and trash any lousy hanger.

• Clothes that you do wear on a regular basis are allowed to get back in - on two conditions: they still fit and they still look good.

That was easy. Now what to do with the rest?

• Holes? Stains? Trash.

• I have to sew a button, I have to change the zipper... Do it! Or get rid of it. Don't let it lying around. 

• You still like it but you just never wear it? Or for some reason you don't feel comfortable wearing it? Or it doesn't look right on you? Don't insist. Give it to a friend or try to sell it.

• Give the rest to Charity.

When you open your wardrobe, you should find pieces that you love and that look great on you. By having too many items in your wardrobe, you'll end up wearing the same clothes again and again and again. It's a waste of space and a waste of money. It'll soon turn into a waste of time and energy as you'll end up spending too much of your precious time finding out what to wear. 


• One more thing: buy something new? Then something else has to go!
