Dear Fork... Sincerely, Spoon.

Sooo colour blocking, huh? I was a bit sceptical at first but I couldn't resist the thought of mixing coral and fushia. You know me: I wear a lot of black so dressing monochromatic or wearing only colours is a bit of a challenge... but I'm getting there.

Outfit details here.

How To Detox Your Wardrobe?

Several of you have asked me about how I proceed to detox my wardrobe. First of all, you should know that I followed Mademoiselle Robot's tips and it worked wonders.

I try to detox my wardrobe once a month. We have four very distinct seasons here in Norway so I have to make efficient use of my closet. I shifted from my fall/winter wardrobe to my spring/summer wardrobe in April and it felt sooo good. I put all of my winter tights, woollen socks, gloves & scarfs in a big box while my cardigans and sweaters have their own drawer.

Now here's how I proceed to declutter my wardrobe. Keep in mind: those are clothes, they can be replaced, don't be too sentimental. (Call me the Wardrobe Nazi if you want.)

• Put on some good music. (I do recommend Telephone by Lady Gaga.)
• Empty your wardrobe, put everything on your bed.
• Clean your wardrobe and trash any lousy hanger.
• Clothes that you do wear on a regular basis are allowed to get back in - on two conditions: they still fit and they still look good.

That was easy. Now what to do with the rest?

• Holes? Stains? Trash.
• I have to sew a button, I have to change the zipper... Do it! Or get rid of it. Don't let it lying around.
• You still like it but you just never wear it? Or for some reason you don't feel comfortable wearing it? Or it doesn't look right on you? Don't insist. Give it to a friend or try to sell it.
• Give the rest to Charity.

When you open your wardrobe, you should find pieces that you love and that look great on you. By having too many items in your wardrobe, you'll end up wearing the same clothes again and again and again. It's a waste of space and a waste of money. It'll soon turn into a waste of time and energy as you'll end up spending too much of your precious time finding out what to wear.

• One more thing: buy something new? Then something else has to go!

Making an inventory of everything you have, may also be an eye-opener. Here's mine if you want to compare...

Good luck!

[Oh Hello Oslo] Damstredet

Damstredet is a small and narrow street in the borough of St. Hanshaugen. It was mostly built from 1810 to 1860 and has managed to survive intact as a charming part of town, with well-preserved and inhabited wooden houses, one of the few streets that retains the small town character of Oslo in a genuine manner.

Everything Goes My Way

"I read somewhere that the #1 reason people stop blogging is that they don’t get enough comments — that is to say, they quit blogging when they feel that no one is listening to them. If you measure your posts’ success by the number of comments they receive (validation), you’ll be tempted to start entertaining rather than expressing yourself. This a perfectly valid way to blog, if that’s what you want. But, if you want blogging to be enjoyable for a long time, expression is the real reward." - Katrina.

• Katrina: Where are those birdie brooches from?
It's a gift from Gabbi.

• Nikki: The Lady Croissant Nation want to make a statue in your honor. What will it be made out of and what victory will it commemorate?
It will be a giant soap bubble machine and it will celebrate... hmmm... today, every day, because "today is the first day of the rest of my life". - Miranda July

• Galit: Can you actually WALK with those heels???
Yep but they're really noisy.

• Ana: Complete this sentence "If I could go back, I would..."
...let you go instead of waiting for you.

• Jamie-Lee: What are your style inspirations?
Björk & Sia

• BlueEyedNightOwl: People you'd invite to a dinner party (dead or alive)?
Charlie Chaplin, Lady Gaga, Michel Gondry, Miranda July, Bill Murray & Tom Waits.

• Laura: What do you do for a living? What's your day job?
During the winter, I'm a teacher. During the summer, I'm a tour guide. Basically, I speak foreign languages for a living.

How to turn a white table into a rainbow.

and 10 minutes later...

That easy.

Howdy new people! You may not have noticed this, but this post is pretty old. I had no idea this little DIY of mine would be getting so much attention. I think I've already answered all possible questions so the comment section is closed. If there's anything you wonder about, please have a look in the comment section or get in touch by e-mail.

The Sound Of Your Beating Heart

Outfit details here.

Katrina tagged me with this cute label (Thank you Katrina!) and I'm supposed to list 10 facts about myself and then tag 10 other bloggers. I seriously suck at that kind of things so I thought I'd ask you if you have any questions... Please go wild in the comments and I'll post my answers in a few days. And as I'm a lazy banana, I'm tagging anyone who reads this.

Yes, you!

ps: Happy Birthday Marine!
