Once upon a time, I met @bisc_otti on Instagram.
I read her short bio:
I love: dinosaurs, meatballs, duvets.
I hate: clogs, poor grammar, sharks.
and was immediately smitten.
• First, could you tell me a little bit about yourself?
I’m 22, I live in Milan (Italy) and, after a degree in law, I’m now studying Digital Media Management. I’m also a professional plant killer but I’m trying to improve my gardening skills (before making new victims). I love meatballs, fat cats, pretty shoes, popculture t-shirts and duvets.
• When and how and why did you start blogging?
I started during High School with a Splinder blog, then I started too many Tumblrs, until October 2010 when I started Eight Biscuits, my actual (and most resistant :D) blog. Blogging is really something natural for me so starting one (two, three, four... ahem) blog wasn't something I thought a lot about. I wanted to talk about pretty dresses with some ladies so, why not starting a blog?
•How much time do you devote to blogging on a daily basis?
This is really a difficult question. When I have an idea for a post, I can stay in front of my laptop for hours editing photos and searching for the right infos. But some other day, I will just read my friends' blogs, comment on others, scroll through Tumblr, edit my comments... okay, I spent way too much time “blogging”.
• What do you like the most about blogging? What do you like the least?
This will be the most typical answer but... all the people I’ve met through my blog. The most annoying thing? Surely companies sending emails for free advertising.
• How would you describe your style?
Tomboy style with a retro hint perhaps?
But this doesn’t mean I don’t love pretty heels, pink girlish stuff and geek tees. Ok, I’m a fashion mess :D
• Name your favorite brands, shops...
I could dress COS from head to toes so COS is certainly one of my favourite shops. I also love Miu Miu (expecially for shoes and accessories), Maison Martin Margiela (so crazy, so brilliant), Christopher Kane and Marni.
Obviously I can’t wear Marni from head to toes for obvious financial reasons so I usually buy one beautiful designer piece: necklace/bag/shoes and mix it with vintage or Asos/Topshop/Zara clothes.
• Any particular inspiration? Do you have a style icon?
This will be the second “commonplace” answer but I think inspiration is all around us. If I had to choose some style icons ,I would totally go on Eva Fontanelli and Margot Tenenbaum.
• Do you have guiding principles when it comes to creating an outfit? Colours for instance? How do you create an outfit?
When I wake up in the morning I always feel like wearing a specific garment so I build the outfit around it. I love minimalism so a great part of my wardrobe is full of black and white items and this allows me to easily match them with some trashy 80’s colorful shirt or something like that.
• What's the last piece of clothing you fell for?
This morning I bought the most versatile item of my wardrobe, a mock shirt from Cos that will allow me to add a nice scalloped collar to, well, everything! I can’t wait to wear it with some popculture-related tee.
• What's the next one you'd like to get?
I’m trying to stop myself from buying a beautiful transparent satchel on Etsy but I already know I’ll give in to her charme.
* Life (and a good measure of curiosity)
• Other hobbies, beside fashion?
I’m a tv series addict, I like to explore new cities, eat delicious food and spend time under my beloved duvet with a book.
• Do you collect anything?
I love to collect anything related to dinosaurs, from t-shirts to planters.
• Favourite book?
Be My Knife by David Grossman
• Favourite movie?
The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Darjeeling Limited... I’m a Wes Anderson fan, choosing only one of his films is really impossible.
• Favourite music?
Efterklang, Xiu Xiu, Luigi Tenco, Phoenix, The Smiths, Lali Puna, Patrick Wolf, Devendra Banhart, Joy Division... I can’t find a unique music genre where I belong, I love listening to different kinds of music.
• Favourite food?
One of my favourite things in life is trying different kinds of food but, as a real Italian stereotype, I can’t live without pasta!
• Favourite place?
At this moment, with the storm outside, I think my small, cozy, apartment but I’m really fascinated by Japan even if I’ve never been there.
